One of it's numerous attractions was the substantial amount of major works that were under taken just prior to it's acquisition. The major items include but are not limited to, a full engine rebuild to 4.2 Litre unleaded specification with 4 Litre value sizes and a 9.7 compression ratio, together with a balance crank, con rods, pistons, crank damper, clutch and flywheel. The gearbox was overhauled too using new synchros, bearing and seals.
The end result is that it drove exceptionally well with the engine performing very strongly indeed. The oil pressure was excellent whilst the water temperature remained impressively low, courtesy of the new electric cooling fan and temperature sensor that was additionally fitted. Amongst other items that enhanced the driving pleasure was the electric power steering....fully adjustable and a huge bonus in terms of the cars driveability.
