If you’re about to look at the advert for R245 PPE and wondered what it’s like to drive I can tell you; fabulous! 

I can also tell you it was built for touring! 

We’ve just returned from a 1,000 mile round trip through the tunnel and deep into the wonderful French countryside south of LaRochelle. 

Early mornings with the hood down on classic French roads and afternoons in the air conditioned heaven of this wonderful Aston. The boot is large and easily swallowed our bags plus gifts for friends we stayed with and a case or two of wine for the way back. 

Touring in high temperatures beneath blue sky's has never been so joyful; not to mention the numerous conversations we had along the lines of; “I know it’s an Aston but which one?” To which the answer is simple; "one of 70 in the world and built for this!"

Thus his Volante is rather special and certainly rare, insomuch, it's just 1 of 70 cars built and actually Aston Martin Production Department's own Show car and subsequently only released by them in June 1998 to Stratstones of Mayfair, who quickly sold it later the same year.

Astonishingly, it has only covered just 7,071 miles from new.

The beautifully preserved Grampian Green paintwork contrasts very nicely with the parchment piped Forest Green leather and is topped off with a near perfect dark green mohair hood.

Renowned Coachtrimmers, "O'Rourke", have just been commissioned to make a new bespoke leather hood cover...given the cars width, a whole hide was needed and it certainly adds an extra something to the already opulent interior.

It has just been through Vantage Engieering's workshop where significant monies have been spent on a thorough and extensive re-commissioning, thus everything works correctly and it drives as it should.
