The BSA Cyclone is arguably one of their rarest and lesser known 500cc unit construction Twins from the famous manufacturer and was only built for the UK market just for one year in 1965, so not exactly thick on the ground! Rarer than its 650cc stablemate, the Cyclone 500 used twin carburettors, high-compression pistons to deliver what the sales literature promised was "extremely zestful" performance.

Description

The majority of the production was sent across the 'Pond', and this was where this fine example was found, albeit not in the same fine fettle as it is today. Infact, it was Eddie Jackson, the well known Motor Cycle dealer and proprietor of 'Motorcycle Revival' in Morden, who spotted it in New York and brought it back for restoration. Interestingly the BSA Dating/Heritage Certificate states that this bike was originally dispatched to New Jersey in 1965, so it had not strayed far when Mr Jackson initially found it in NY !

Not long after its restoration the Cyclone and Eddie I understand emirgrated to Spain. Eventually returning to Blighty and offered for sale, it was quickly snapped up by long time BSA enthusiast and Club Member, George Page. Infact, in the June 2009 edition (No 218) of Classic Bike Guide, there is a detailed editorial on both the Cyclone and George.

An immensely rideable and collectable motorcycle in fabulous condition which had been kept in first class order by a succession of responsible and mature owners.
