I had started my search for a well sorted MGB some years ago but was side tracked for 3 years by a superb fast road Triumph GT6 instead.....pictures of which you can see on my website sold section. Sadly it was deemed by 'she who must be obeyed', surplus to requirements, and was quickly snapped up by a very enthusiastic Japanese collector !!

Description

Ever since I've had this continued MG 'itch' , so have kept an eye out for something interesting!! Having searched in vain for a year or so, unbeknown to me, this MGB was just literally yards away from home.

I am all for originality but when someone has not only beautifully maintained but thoughtfully upgraded a car too, I am certainly interested.

So we have here a lovely genuine 1974 late chrome bumper Roadster with a Oselli 2.0 engine (invoice on file of £3660) together with a host of other upgrades. The engine is their Stage 2 unit which is lighted and balanced, plus lead free....the increase in power and particularly torque is substantial, up to 40% increase over the standard engine, say Oselli . A pair of HIF carburettors and K&N air filter optimise the breathing, whilst a performance distributor and a Magatronic unit is also fitted. A high torque starter motor turns it over with ease, there's full stainless steel exhaust and period Minilites.

All the work was undertaken in 2009/10 along with a respray in its original Damask Red - a new black hood was fitted, along with a walnut dash, door cards and tonneau. A pair of later style leather seats were added, which for my larger frame, add a degree of extra comfort.

There is a large history file with invoices detailing the restoration and ongoing maintenance todate. Its averaged a 1000 miles a year since its makeover and I've driven 1500 of them. The engine is a delight and cruises very comfortably at 70 in over drive top but its most enjoyable on A & B roads, where you can use the extra power and torque to really nip along.

It would be a pleasure to answer any further questions you might have. This MGB Roadster can be inspected at my Guildford showroom - please call 07788 865700.
