Description

After 40 years opening garages and finding wonderful cars, its still an utter delight to stumble across anything that has been beautifully looked after or indeed restored.

Certainly for us its never been about their absolute value but more the actual motor car and we're still amazed by the lengths certain individuals go to and their steely determination to both beautifully and accurately restore their cars when any financial reward is clearly not the motivator nor readily achievable.

Enter left stage this fabulous MGC Roadster....

Looking at the substantial history file one can track its complete restoration plus the subsequent diligent maintenance over 16 years to virtually the present day.

To ensure superior results, the owner used throughout the rebuild both Robin Lackford Engineering and MG Motorsport, and one can follow its progression from a bare shell to a complete repainted restored car with a clear insight to all the mechanical and upgraded engineering along the way.

Having driven a few of these over the years, upon starting one can feel its a more free-revving engine, in fact, digging out the relevant invoice, it's a fully balanced engine with a 266 camshaft and lighten flywheel. Further work by MG Motorsport included a new clutch, gearbox/overdrive rebuild and new radiator.

Looking at the history file and the endless invoices, we're told by the last owner, who purchased it during "lockdown", that the total spend amounts to an impressive £50,000 or more....interestingly he runs/owns a well known garage near Dorking and thus he wouldn't have contemplated this car had it not been a cut above the rest.

The attractive interior is enhanced with better leather faced seats and a lovely delicate Les Leston wooden steering wheel, otherwise all standard MGC. There's a full tonneau and unmarked mohair roof with a clear plastic rear window plus an bespoke additional "storm cover" to cover all eventualities!

Paint, body, chrome, engine and interior are all first class, leaving you in no doubt that this MGC is an exceptionally good example of one of Abingdon's best British sports cars.

We would be delighted to arrange a viewing at our Rudgwick (West Sussex) showroom, or to discuss this MGC in further detail, please contact Julien Sumner on 07788 856700.
