Looking at a car that's approaching 56 years old, these words certainly ring true. This car is in remarkable condition and is equally as clean and corrosion free underneath as it is above.

This Volvo PV 544 has just seen the light of day after being garage bound for the last eleven years. Having been correctly stored it remarkably fired into life on its third attempt and subsequently sailed through a mot and service with only a coupe of minor things needing attention.

There have been only two former registered keepers since it arrived here in 1990. The first was Classic Volvo Imports who brought the car into the UK for the last and only other  keeper, who was an old client of mine and who sadly passed away some years ago. I was approached a couple of years ago by his family to help find homes for a number of early Porsche cars and  tractors! We have steadily worked through his collection, finding discerning owners for each car and tractor, but this Volvo was much prized and as a result has been left to the very last.

Given its excellent drive-ability, it was used as a daily run about during the period  the family  lived in Devon, something the mots from 1990 onwards on file happily confirm. I've been behind the wheel and it’s drives beautifully...truthfully I was somewhat surprised given its weight/construction to find how lively the performance was, and certainly the 1778 cc engine feels more potent than its 90bhp would suggest. Being of a larger build myself,there's plenty of interior space and the seats are supremely comfortable.

Evidently it has been repainted at some stage and pleasingly it still presents very well. Considering the car is more than 5 decades old,the interior is in remarkable condition with no noticeable physical wear to any surfaces.

Volvo never made a RHD version of the 544 Sports, and  this car must be amongst the best available today.
